One of Charlottetown’s oldest streets, it has been witness to many of our most important events, among them, the arrival of the Fathers of Confederation to discuss the idea of a new nation in 1864.

Designated a National Historic Site 16 November 1990, the recognition of this important street includes the waterfront up to Province House. The varied architecture, much of  which dates back to the Pre-Confederation era, blends together with more modern architecture, like St. Dunstan’s Basilica to form a beautiful streetscape.
