Softball began to be played in Charlottetown in the 1930s. It became more popular after World War II. More teams and leagues were organized and like many sports, Charlottetown would play Summerside for Provincial titles. They would then go on to compete for Maritime titles.
The Sunshine Dairy Softball team (left) is an example of the many teams that competed regularly. Percy Gay, the sponsor of the team, hosted the banquet for the end of the season which is featured in the image above.
