Built in 1937, and located on Linden Avenue (formerly Connolly Street), the Parkdale School would become too small for its growing community. Less than twenty years after its construction, a new one would be built in 1956.

The grade 6 class in the photo includes: Back Row: George Worth, Edmond Gaudet, Henry MacLean and Vic Livingstone. Front Row: Helen Lund, Dorothy Rodd, Catherine MacEachern, Ruby Hudson, Phyllis Coles. We don’t know who the photo bombers in the window behind the class are but they make for a great picture!

You can view more photos like this on the wonderful, Heritage Award winning blog created by Pex MacKay, that explores Parkdale in the 1950s and 1960s.
