Before Queen Elizabeth Drive was developed, the area shown in the photo was Charlottetown’s cottage country. Once summer arrived in the City, families would pack up and move across town to their cottages on the Brighton Shore. Here, they would enjoy bonfires, water sports and social events with the other cottage dwellers. Swimmers also took advantage of the North River to enjoy their summer days. Even the Red Cross used the area for swimming lessons.
