Lorne Unsworth is described by the PEI Sport Hall of Fame as one of the fastest cyclists in Canada before the turn of the (20th) century. In his short life, he he won over fifty awards in Maritime competitions. He was a crowd favourite for his sportsmanship and his dramatic headlong finishes. At a competition in Moncton, Unsworth was thrown from his bicycle not far from the finish. Undeterred, he picked up the bike and ran with it across the finish line, securing a second place finish!
