The Corps of Canadian Firefighters WWII was formed in 1942 to assist Great Britain’s National Fire Service during the extensive bombing raids by Germany. A total of 422 Canadians volunteered including Charlottetown’s JE Cudmore, LA (Louis) Stewart and HG Lapthorne. It was the Stewart family who donated badges, a hat and a pin to the Charlottetown Fire Department’s Collection. A total of 22 CFD members served on active duty during the Second World War.
