In the photo, James Murphy, a popular cab/delivery driver in the City has his rare in Atlantic Canada Irish jaunting cart parked in front of beautiful St Paul’s Anglican Church on Queen Square. St Paul’s is celebrating 250 years as a parish in 2019. The church is the third, and certainly the grandest edifice of the parish. Designed by prominent architect, William Critchlow Harris and built by H and S Lowe, it was constructed of Island sandstone in the French Gothic style. For optimal acoustics and sight lines, the building was designed like a musical instrument. Parishioners continue to share the beautiful space with the public by hosting a variety of musical presentations. The lovely church bells that mark the hours each day add a lovely charm to Queen Square and the City.
